One of the affliction on top of this illness itself is the mental confusion caused by the uncertainty and the unknown. People who have never experienced these things themselves will doubt your sanity and seem will never be able to understand what you've been through. Medical professionals turn their back on you. Research are out-dated. You have to figure out a way yourself.
How to be calm and not to fall for the possible traps and fallacies, while keeping open-minded?. As someone who has been trained and worked in science for many years, I started to think these things again. I understand science is not dogmatism, science changes, new things will be discovered, publication does not equal to truth, there are good science and bad science, as well as fake science, but I feel scientific methods do not change, and must be learnt and followed to lead to meaningful discussions.
This part includes some of my thoughts and investigations to show my attitude on several controversial issues.

I believe the mind is the strongest part of the body, and if a product can provide placebo effects I feel it can also promote healing of the body. The only real case where essential oils may work for me is stress relief. An example would be If I believe that they provide stress relief, I will let it relieve my stresses and thus allow my body to regain health (stress makes me feel sick, thus not eating properly, both making me break out in acne). Sometimes knowing too much can dimmish any effects of products like these, ignorance is key in my opinion. People like myself will choose to believe that they have effects not scientifically understood at this point, but that can be a factor towards healing (tricking the mind/placebo). If I were a scientist, I bet it’d wreck it for me.
